Special Assignments

We run 4 teams on Patrol. These officers are the 1st line of response to all calls for service. Patrol is the backbone of policing in America. 

Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Instructor is a specialized assignment for those who like to teach others to drive fast and safe! Our EVOC team train officers in both high speed and low speed vehicle operations.

The bike team work special events around town. Once you are a member of the team, you can even throw a bike rack on your patrol car and go for a ride on your regular shift. 

Keeping our officers safe by ensuring they have the best training and a solid legal foundation is a top priority for us. 

Our DT Instructors are experts in Use of Force and work with our TASER and Baton Instructors to provide the best and most relevant training.

A School Resource Officer (SRO) works with the MHUSD to ensure safety on multiple school campuses within the District. SRO's work a school schedule which is the only sworn position at the police department offering those hours. 

Our Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) are cross trained in CSI, evidence collection, photography, latent prints, blood spatter, DNA, etc. 

CSI officers respond to fatal traffic collisions, homicide scenes, and other critical incidents as determined by the Watch Commander.

Our Range Instructors maintain the range, set up qualifications courses throughout the year, offer free training days,  and ensure a high level of firearm proficiency for all officers. 

The H.N.T. (Hostage Negotiations Team) are deployed simultaneously with the S.W.A.T. Team. 

H.N.T. work diligently with their S.W.A.T. partners to ensure a peaceful outcome during some of the highest stress events police officers deal with. 

H.N.T have successfully resolved standoffs with homicide suspects, DV suspects, violent criminals holding children hostage etc. 

Our Special Operations Division ("The Bureau") consists of various detective positions and special investigators to include; 

Person Crimes -  Murder, Sex Assault, Child Abuse etc.

Property Crimes - Robbery, Burglary, Extortion Scams etc.

S.E.T. (Special Enforcement Team) - Violent Crimes and Gangs.

DV - Domestic Violence and Missing Persons
