Patrol officers are the backbone of policing. Patrol teams are made up of a Sergeant, Corporal, and 4 Officers. Patrol teams are first at all traffic collisions, DUIs, domestic calls, narcotics, child abuse, sexual assault, homicide, robbery, battery, burglary etc. Every officer starts on a Patrol team.
Detectives have specialized training in various fields including; homicide, sexual assault, domestic violence, robbery, child abuse, assault, and burglary. Some detectives serve on specific County Task Forces combatting drugs, financial crimes, vehicle theft etc.
Every SWAT call also requires HNT (Hostage Negotiations Team) respond. Officers with specialized training in crisis communications make up this Regional Team
Officers on the CSI Team are trained in advanced crime scene processing techniques developed by the FBI. CSI training includes finger printing, photography, blood spatter, sketching scenes, evidence collection.
The Special Enforcement Team are part of the Special Operations Division and focus on enforcement of violent crimes, gang crimes, and other covert investigations
Patrol Officers are part of the Field Operations Division and can apply to join the Bike Team upon successful completion of their probation. Bicycle patrol is often used for concerts, parades, festivals, sporting events, and other special circumstances
School Resource Officers work with the Morgan Hill Unified School District to maintain a safe school environment for all public middle and high schools in Morgan Hill. SROs know our students, help educate them, and build positive relationships daily
Each officer is issued their own personal patrol rifle with optic sights. Our Range Instructors ensure accuracy and competency with all firearms throughout the year. Officers can also hone their skills at our private outdoor range during specified sessions
With the need for a fast response to in-progress crimes or to render life saving aid, we developed a team of EVOC instructors who ensure our officers remain safe vehicle operators under stressful conditions
